Making connections between Scientists and Teachers - join us!

March 1, 2013

Would you like to visit a high school classroom and inspire high school students to become a scientist?

The Telling Your Story workshop aims to form collaborations resulting in classroom visits where STEM graduate students, postdocs and instructors will “tell the story” of how they became inspired to pursue a STEM career, and what their research/work and life is like now. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about K-12 education and best practices for speaking with young audiences, and to make a big impact on future generations.

WHAT: The Telling Your Story networking workshop
WHEN: Tuesday, April 9 from 9 AM – 2:30 PM
WHERE: MIT campus
WEBSITE: https://sites.google.com/site/tellyourstoryworkshopmit/

At the workshop you’ll meet with local grade 9-12 teachers who want you to visit their classrooms, practice honing your own inspiring story, learn how to use visuals and hands-on activities to engage students, and hopefully make plans to visit a local school sometime this year. Any further visits or collaboration with the teacher is up to you.

Interested? Sign up here.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We have room for 25 teachers and 25 STEM researchers and engineers.
