MacVicar Day 2012
Innovations in Undergraduate Education at MIT: Past, Present, and Future
In the Tradition of Margaret MacVicar and Robert Silbey

Friday, March 16, 2012
Bartos Theater, E15-070

Refreshments: 2:30 PM
Symposium: 3:00 – 5:00 PM

Join us to honor the 2012 MacVicar Faculty Fellows and celebrate the tradition of excellence in teaching at MIT. Dean Daniel Hastings will introduce the new MacVicar Faculty Fellows, and Dean Diana Henderson will moderate a symposium on innovations in undergraduate education. The program includes presentations by Professors Linda G. Griffith, Moungi G. Bawendi, John M. Essigmann, William Broadhead, and Arthur W. Bahr, as well as Q&A about their faculty collaborations and undergraduate teaching innovations.

This year’s program will also pay tribute to Robert Silbey, a champion for undergraduate education and a MacVicar Faculty Fellow, who passed away in October. Alumnus Joel Yuen ’07 and Professor Robert Redwine will close the symposium with their reflections on Robert Silbey, one of the most visionary and important innovators in undergraduate education at MIT.
