As part of the outreach and dissemination goals of their recent Davis Educational Foundation Grant, the STAR team (Software Tools for Academics and Research) is hosting a day-long workshop for invited biology faculty from selected regional colleges and universities.
Coordinated by Lourdes Aleman, Chuck Shubert and Rocklyn Clarke, the workshop will give biology educators an opportunity to explore the StarBiochem and StarGenetics software tools through guided exercises and hands-on applications as well as to learn about opportunities to integrate these tools into the curriculum.
In addition, demonstrations of practical applications in the classroom will be presented by Stacie Bumgarner, postdoctoral research associate with the Whitehead Institute, and Kene Piasta, graduate student at Brandeis University.
