1.3.5 Transverse Dunes

Transverse dunes form a series of parallel ridges oriented perpendicularly to the wind direction. These dunes are better developed in areas with a prevailing wind direction, a good supply of sediment, and sparse vegetation. Although transverse dunes often form along sandy shorelines, they also develop in arid and semi-arid regions with abundant sand and little vegetation.
