2.1.3.1 Antecedent Stream

An antecedent stream is a stream that was established before local uplift began, and incised (cut) its channel at the same rate that the land was rising. The exposed geologic structure along the valley sides of an antecedent stream may be very similar to that along a superimposed stream.
