2.1.5.3 Playa Lake

Playa lakes form in interior drainage basins below mountain ranges. These lakes may be ephemeral, existing only during the wetter part of the year. The water flowing into the area is often very saline; deposits formed from these lakes usually contain evaporitic salts.
