4.4.1 Terra Rosa

This soil is a dense, acidic clay with a high iron content which produces a red color. Terra rosa is one of the types of residual soil deposits which form as a result of the corrosive weathering of limestone, dolomite, or marble. The boundary between soil and underlying rock is sharp.
