4.5.7 Steepheads

Springs are very common in karst areas. When springs surface very abruptly (often at the head of valleys), the term steephead is used. These features are often associated with underlying impervious rock which causes the water to emerge, and can be formed by several different processes including cave collapse and slope undercutting.
