6.2.4 Coves, Bays, Bights

A sea cliff will retreat landward at different rates along the shore depending on the resistance of the rocks to erosion and the effectiveness of wave attack. As a result, indentations in the shoreline will form coves, bays or bights. The coves are usually small, and the bays and bights are somewhat larger; the larger bays and estuaries are usually not caused by erosion.
