6.3.1.5 Deposition-Dominated Shoreline

The shoreline environment is characterized by depositional features such as beaches and offshore bars. The offshore bar may separate a body of water, a lagoon, from the open water. The lagoon will eventually be filled with sedimentary deposits transported from the land, and a marsh may develop in its place.
