6.3.2.2 Hook (Hooked Spit)

A hook is a spit in which the long axis has been deflected by currents or wave action. A hook which undergoes several stages of deflection is called a compound hook. A split hook is caused by opposite or roughly opposite currents which tend to open a channel.
