1.2.1 Desert Pavement

Desert pavement (desert armor)forms as the wind removes or sorts the sand and smaller-sized particles leaving the coarser pebbles and boulders (lag deposits). In the interdunal areas, the desert pavement can vary between a broad featureless plain and narrow wind swept corridors. The lag gravels are called gibber plains, serir, or regs.
