6.3.2.5 Baymouth Bar (Barrier Bar)

A baymouth bar forms when a spit grows across the entire mouth of the bay. This bar acts to reduce the wave advance into the bay. With time, the entire bay may be sealed except for a small channel inlet for tides and fresh water flowing into and out of the bay.
