Professor Jeffrey Miller will speak on

Integrating Undergraduates into Educationally Meaningful Research Programs and Courses

Monday, October 3, 2011 @ 2:30 pm in the Koch Institute Auditorium

Professor Miller is a professor and chair of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at the University of California, Los Angeles. His textbook: I, Microbiologist: a Discovery-Based Course in Microbial Ecology and Molecular Evolution details teaching an undergraduate laboratory course in microbiology. The textbook includes protocols that can be completed in short periods of time and enables students to gain valuable hands-on research experience. Students learn how to devise hypotheses, perform experiments and obtain results in order to better understand key concepts.
