THATCamp New England offers fellowships

September 6, 2011

The second annual THATCamp New England will be held at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, on Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22. THATCamp ("The Humanities and Technology Camp") is a conference to discuss how technology is influencing teaching, research, and service at universities and colleges. THATCamp New England 2011 is being hosted by Brandeis University with the generous support and sponsorship of NERCOMP.

The conference will have two parts. First, the conference will have seven workshops, three on Friday afternoon and four on Saturday. These hands-on, instructor-led sessions will introduce participants to the basic skills, tools, and concepts of the digital humanities, with no prior experience required or assumed.

A number of micro-fellowships are being offered to graduate students, pre-tenure faculty, librarians, archivists, museum professionals, and educational techninformation on the workshops and fellowships, please see the conference's bootcamp web page.

Second, on Saturday there will be a number of "unconference" sessions. Participants will propose session topics on the conference website in advance. On the morning of the conference, participants will vote on the topics to create the schedule for the rest of the day. Participants will then organize discussions or work together on various technologies, rather than reading and responding to papers.

Please see the conference website for more details and to apply or contact the organizer, Lincoln Mullen <lincoln@lincolnmullen.com>. The application deadline is September 16.
