Delta margin sand sheets form along the flanks of active distributary mouth bars where wave-action is strong. These sands have been reworked along the upper shore and marginal beaches. The grain size becomes smaller or 'fines' away from the mouth bars down the shore, and the deposits there commonly consist of silty sand.
