A crevasse deposit is a short ridge of material formed by the filling a crevasse in the ice. The material is usually sand and gravel which is poorly sorted, water-laid, and poorly to somewhat stratified. Although these ridges can have a preferred orientation, crevasse deposits often are not oriented parallel to previous ice-flow.
