Rounded solution runnels form when hollows (solution formed depressions) develop longitudinally; they resemble solution runnels except the ribs between become rounded. Rounded solution runnels form in covered karst where the soil acts like a sponge to keep the water in contact with the bedrock. Rounded solution runnels will not be seen unless significant erosion of the cover occurs.
