4.7.7 Solution Runnels

As rainfall runoff concentrates, the larger volumes of water dissolve the ribs between solution flutes to form solution runnels. The water may also collect from snow melt or seepage. Other related forms include meandering runnels and wall solution runnels. Runnels often drain into grikes; the depth varies from a few centimeters to the depth of the grike. Solution runnels usually form on bare karst.
