6.2.9 Erosion-Dominated Shoreline

The shoreline environment is characterized by both erosional and depositional features. The latter are emphemeral, particularly during storms most of the depositional material will be removed, while deposition of material and features such as storm beaches occurs as the storm recedes. Erosional features such as sea cliffs and wave cut terrances are actively eroded during storms but covered by depositional features such as wave built terranes, bars and beaches during other periods.
