7.1.2 Strike-Slip Fault

A strike-slip, or lateral, fault is one in which the movement is horizontal, parallel to the strike of the fault plane. They may be right-lateral or left-lateral. Offset stream courses are evidence of strike-slip faults. (Right/left lateral means that the opposite wall of the fault has moved to the right/left.)
