8.5.4 Hot Spring

A hot spring is a stream of hot water issuing from the ground, often after being heated by magma. Hot springs usually occur in volcanic regions where eruptions cease to exist. However, hot springs may exist in non-volcanic regions where water has penetrated deep enough into the earth to be heated by magma.
