Biology Education Group draws enthusiastic crowd

On Friday, March 11, the first meeting of the newly reformed Biology Education Group drew an enthusiastic crowd of 30 to learn about the Biology Department's outreach activities, and the recently updated visualization tool, Star Genetics.

HHMI-MIT Biology Education Group launches multipurpose website

Conceptually analogous to a laboratory research group, the Education Group was first created by HHMI Professor Graham Walker of the MIT Department of Biology in 2002. In September 2010, Professor Walker reestablished the group and it is once again active on the MIT campus and beyond!

3D visualizations enhance Anatomy & Physiology curriculum

Patrice Thiriet and Olivier Rastello presented their suite of 3D visualization tools for anatomy education on Wednesday, Jan 26. The tools were created at the University of Lyon1 in France, by a team including technologists, domain experts and visual artists who have compiled an open source suite available to all users. The interactive tools allow students to explore various aspects of human anatomy from perspectives that were hitherto impossible.

Vijay Kumar honored as distinguished IIT Alumnus

OEIT director, Vijay Kumar, was recently honored with the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

Chosen for their outstanding achievements, Distinguished Alumni participate in an award function, held as part of the Institute Day on April 21, 2011. The Institute intends for distinguished alumni to inspire current IIT students.

OEIT hosts open discussion on E-Learning at MIT

Over 25 people from throughout the institute, as well as interested educational technology experts from neighboring institutions, attended OEIT's open discussion on E-Learning on Jan 25th.
