The MIT Council for Educational Technology (MITCET) and OEIT are pleased to announce that Michael (Mitcho) Yoshitaka Erlewine 'G, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy, has been awarded the 2010 Microsoft Research iCampus Technology Innovation Student Prize (the icampus student prize) for his work on "Sustainable Web Development for the MIT Community Using Wordpress".

MIT-Haiti Symposium sparks connections and possible collaborations

The MIT-Haiti Symposium, held Oct 21-22, sparked connections, possible collaborations and hopes for future action. Over 20 MIT faculty and administrators met with 18 Haitian educators and education leaders to explore areas of common interest.

Through facilitated dialogs and collective brainstorming sessions over the 2 day event, participants identified 3 areas for potential collaboration:

STAR Team Expands with Support of Prof Walker's 2010 HHMI grant

MIT Professor Graham Walker, newly named 2010 Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor, will use portions of his HHMI grant to fund Dr. Stacie Bumgarner and Dr. Lourdes Aleman on advancing developments in the StarBiology tool and other tools in the STAR suite.

LiNC International Conference

The MIT Learning International Networks Consortium (LINC) 2010 Conference on May 23-26 hosted approximately 200 participants from 40 different countries who shared their ideas about and experiences in how universities worldwide can better provide distance education and e-learning resources to help improve student learning.

NMC Summer Conference 2010

The NMC 2010 Summer Conference took place in early June in Anaheim California. Drawing a crowd of over 200 educators, artists, and technologists, the conference spanned 4 days of presentations, celebrations, forums, and live dancing at the House of Blues.
